Reconfiguring your ChonkerKeys

4 steps to reconfigure your ChonkerKeys.

Remove buttons

Our ChonkerKeys kit includes a

red ChonkerKeys button separator, this wedge-like separator allows you to remove any buttons from the board effortlessly.

1. Place the sharper end of the separator at the bottom edge of the button.

2. Use the board as anchor and lift the button up with the tip of the separator.

3. Repeat step 1 and 2 a few times until the button is completely removed.

Remove keycaps

Hold the keycap on the edge with fingertips of one hand, and the button base with the other hand, gently pull the keycap out from the button base.

Reconfigure your own buttons

This is the fun part of ChonkerKeys, which you need to align button shroud at the bottom of the button to the hole on the board, note that the shape of the 'stud' and the hole. The button shroud should be able to interlock with the hole effortlessly if the shape is matched.

There are two different orientations to connect the button onto the board, horizontally or vertically.

Setup buttons on software

After your have organized the buttons on the ChonkerKeys, the next thing is to reconfigure the buttons accordingly in the software in order to update the ChonkerKeys device:

1. Plug the ChonkerKeys board to your computer with the USB cable

2. Open the software and go to 'Rearrange Buttons' at the bottom:

3. In the Rearrange Buttons user interface screen, there are two parts:

1️⃣ The current buttons configuration on the board

2️⃣ The list of buttons available to add to the board

4. To remove a button from the current configuration, click on the X icon on top right of the button.

5. To add a button, scroll horizontally to select the button from the list of buttons, then a 'dimmed' button will appear on the bottom left of the current configuration board.

6. Then you can move the button to the empty slot that can fit the size of the button, e.g you cannot place a 1.5u button to 1u slot on the board.

7. Click 'Save Settings', then at the main screen click 'Update Device', the software will then do the work updating your ChonkerKeys.

8. Please keep your device connected until the update is complete, then you will have a reconfigured ChonkerKeys ready to use.
